Backpack International Inc., a non-profit organization founded in 2016 by Guyanese-born Oslyn Rodriguez, is dedicated to equipping students in need for academic success. As such, the organization that provides backpacks filled with essentials such as school supplies, hygiene products, shoes, clothing, books, and more, will continue its ninth Mission trip in the South American country until July 15.

Rodriguez told Caribbean Life recently, that Backpack International Inc. is thrilled to host its ninth mission trip to Guyana, from July 4 – 15. She said an eleven-member team, consisting of nine volunteers from the USA and two from Guyana, will be traveling to Lethem in the hinterland area of Guyana to distribute essential supplies and host educational and recreational activities for local children.

“Earlier this month, Backpack International shipped a 20-foot container filled with backpacks loaded with new shoes, school supplies, hygiene products, and reading books for over 200 children in Lethem and St. Ignatius Village. This shipment also includes medical scrubs for the dedicated staff at Lethem Hospital,” said Rodriguez.
