EWA is a Bahrain government organization and caters all the Electricity and Water service requirements in Kingdom of Bahrain which includes Production, Transmission and Distribution to both HV and LV consumers. EWA employs around 3000 staff, both Bahrainis and other Nationals from various cultural backgrounds and is providing the population of tiny island (Area - 293 sq. miles, Population- 1.5million) with uninterrupted Power (Consumption- Average 1600MW / Month) and water supply throughout the year. My main responsibilities here include switching of 400kV, 220kV, 66kV, 33kV and 11kV switchgears at GIS Substation, Issuing safety documents (PTW, SFT, LOA…) to carry out various works at GIS substations, Supervising the commissioning of HV GIS substations, Coordination with contractors for the maintenance of LV systems at GIS Substations, on- call emergency attendance of system fault alarms, Inspection and preparation of snags during , Pre-commissioning (PCN), Taking over (TOC) and End of Maintenance period (EOMP) of Electricity Transmission substations. Digitization of 220kV, 66kV & 33kV transmission circuits in GIS (ArcGIS), Preparation of route records in AutoCAD, Schematics, Single line layouts, sectional details, as-built drawings and sketches related to Electricity transmission jobs, Preparation of GIS Substation layouts, GIS substation single line drawings and schematics, Checking of preliminary and As-built drawing submission from consultant/contractor to make sure that they are complying with EWA Standard requirements and preparing comments. Clearing Wayleaves initiated by Networks section, Damage prevention section and other ministries, identifying the Electricity transmission circuits conflicts. Procurement of materials needed for the department using SAP (ERP 6.0) by raising PR, RFQ, PO etc. Coordination with other departments for the procurement of work related drawings, documents etc. Assist section in preparing various documents like presentations, technical documents, scope of work etc.

Atkins designed and delivered some of the region’s most important projects including the Burj Al Arab, Dubai Metro, Bahrain World Trade Centre and Durrat Al Bahrain. I joined as an Electrical CAD Technician and was promoted to Senior CAD technician after one year. I gained reputation and appreciation from my seniors for the timely accomplishment of assigned tasks for many fast tracked projects. My main responsibilities includes the Electrical CAD Design of building services which includes preparation of design drawings of Electrical LV & ELV Schematics, LV cabling, Small Power layouts, Lighting layouts, CCTV & Access control layouts, BMS layouts and Fire protection system layouts. Apart from these I was also actively involved in Site Inspection, Qanity surveying, checking of As-built drawings, MEP Coordination and in the preparation of Electrical Load Schedules, Lux calculations and related Technical documents.
