Job Description

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management & Accounting
 Establish and maintain appropriate accounting systems, financial procedures, internal
controls and reporting mechanisms.
 Manage the company’s day-to-day accounting and financial activities. Key priorities
include managing weekly cash flow, payroll, invoicing and collections; monitoring fuel,
maintenance and other operating costs; and reporting profitability by truck and job.
 Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections and management accounts.
 Monitor revenue, expenditure, profitability and overall financial performance.
 Ensure timely preparation of financial and management reports for the Managing
Director.
 Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections and reconciliations.
 Monitor operating costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
 Ensure compliance with applicable taxation, statutory and financial reporting
requirements in Guyana.
 Coordinate with auditors, financial institutions, tax authorities and other relevant external
stakeholders as required.
 Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business and investment
decisions.

Business Setup & Organizational Structure
 Work with the Managing Director to establish the administrative and operational structure
required for the company’s growth.
 Coordinate the establishment and effective functioning of the company’s physical office.
 Develop and implement appropriate policies, procedures, workflows and administrative
systems.
 Establish record-keeping, reporting and document-management systems.
 Identify operational resources, technology, suppliers and support services required by the
business.
 Assist with recruitment, onboarding and the development of appropriate administrative
and operational practices as the company expands.

Business & Operations Management
 Maintain appropriate oversight of the company’s day-to-day activities while ensuring
focus on longer-term strategic priorities.
 Monitor operational and financial performance and ensure that emerging issues are
brought promptly to the attention of the Managing Director.
 Establish and monitor key performance indicators and operational targets.
 Coordinate operational personnel to ensure effective collaboration between finance,
administration and trucking operations.
 Identify inefficiencies, risks and opportunities for improvement and recommend
corrective action.
 Ensure the company’s administrative and business practices support reliable and
professional service delivery.

Business Development & Growth
 Support the Managing Director in developing and implementing the company’s business
growth strategy.
 Conduct market and competitor research to identify potential clients, market
opportunities and areas for expansion.
 Assist in developing strategies to build the company’s presence and increase market share
within Guyana’s trucking and transportation sector.
 Identify and pursue prospective clients and business opportunities.
 Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, suppliers, partners and
other stakeholders.
 Participate in preparing proposals, quotations, presentations and other business-
development materials.
 Monitor customer needs and market developments and recommend new services or
business opportunities.
 Support negotiations and commercial discussions with prospective and existing clients.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
 Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability and regulatory compliance throughout
the organization.

 Ensure appropriate business systems support compliance with relevant transportation,
occupational health and safety and operational requirements.
 Work with operational personnel to monitor adherence to company safety standards and
procedures.
 Assist in identifying operational, financial and business risks and implementing
appropriate controls.
 Ensure appropriate documentation and records are maintained for regulatory, insurance
and operational purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate should possess:
 Minimum ACCA Level 2 or a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related
discipline.
 Approximately 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably including
accounting, financial management, business management and/or operations.
 Demonstrated experience in a management or supervisory capacity.
 Experience developing business processes, systems, controls and procedures.
 Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting and cash-flow
management.
 Experience within transportation, trucking, logistics, distribution or a related operational
industry would be a significant asset.
 Working knowledge of applicable business, taxation, and statutory requirements in
Guyana.
 An understanding of workplace and operational health and safety standards.
 Strong proficiency in Microsoft tools, particularly Excel skills and the ability to establish
reliable accounting records, financial reports, document management, and internal
controls using Microsoft tools.
